Guitar Lessons Are Only Part Of The
Learning Process
If you've never played the guitar before
and you pick up a guitar, it's going to feel very awkward in
your arms. To learn the guitar correctly, you should really
think about getting guitar lessons. Sure, guitar lessons are
going to cost you money and you're going to have to spend a lot
of time going but it's going to be worth it. You can learn
guitar on your own either by playing by ear or learning via a
website or book, but only through proper guitar lessons can you
truly learn good habits that will allow you to play beautiful
music with this fantastic instrument.
Practice Makes
Perfect
When you take guitar lessons, you should pay attention to
everything you're taught and then you should work on that
lesson at home. For example, if during that day's guitar
lessons you've learned to read guitar tablature, which is
essentially an easy way to read music, you should then go home
and practice for an hour or two. You should never limit your
guitar playing or practicing to the guitar lessons themselves.
Learning the guitar takes lots of practice and that practice
should be done alone as you go through much trial and error.
You're going to mess up a lot at first but as long as you stick
to it you'll be playing correctly in no time at all.
Good
Instructors
Proper guitar lessons can only come from a good guitar
instructor. Sure, anyone who plays the guitar can essentially
teach another to play but only a few have the skills to
actually teach. Look for guitar lessons that are offered at
your local college or even music store. You can also answer ads
on the internet or in your local paper, or even in music
publications, but you should test the person out before you pay
any money. First you should watch them play to make sure you
want to learn their way, and then you should ask for referrals
or proof that they can actually teach others to play.
Again, no matter how many times you take guitar lessons you
should always practice as much as you can. Playing the guitar
can take years of diligent practice. However, you must practice
perfectly if you hope to play like a pro. With good guitar
lessons and lots of practice, you'll be playing in no time and
you'll likely amaze yourself with how quickly you picked it
up.
